Treatable Skin Blemishes
Thread Vein Removal
These are permanently dilated capillaries. They have very thin walls which constantly dilate and constrict. As we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated.
There are numerous causes including: ageing, sun-damage, hereditary, pregnancy, trauma e.g. the rubbing of spectacles and smoking. Energetic sports, temperature extremes, harsh weather exposure, hormones and skin fragility are also common causes. They are commonly seen in a maturing ‘English rose’ complexion.
Blood spot (Campbell de morgan) Removal
Cherry red or purple in colour, these superficial blemishes are often dome shaped or slightly raised with a smooth surface. Most people aged over 30 have at least one and they are often more common in men than women. Can often occur after a general anesthetic.
Spider Naevus Removal
A spider Naevus is a central dilated blood vessel, from which smaller capillaries radiate like the legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together in clumps on areas such as the cheeks. They can occur during pregnancy but will often resolve with out treatment after the pregnancy has ended.
Skin Tag Removal
Skin Tags are very common and most frequently found on the neck and face. They often appear with a neck like a mushroom and vary in size from a tiny speck, smaller than a grain of uncooked rice, to the size of a large pea or even larger. They are often found in areas of friction such as the underarm, groin, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces may irritate.
These are tiny, white, hard, round, spots containing keratin which lie superficially under the surface of the skin. Their exact cause is unknown although they are often associated with dry, dehydrated skin. They are usually no bigger than a pin head an are most common on the upper cheeks or beneath the eyes.
There are various types of warts including plane, plantar, venereal and verrucas and all can be easily and successfully treated using electrolysis. These type of warts are caused by infection of the epidermal cells and can develop individually or in clusters they can be highly contagious.
Although these are classified as part of the wart family they are not contagious and very common on the head face and body. Associated with increasing age, mature skins, sun damage, they also have genetic links. Growing up to 2 inches across they are often dry, crusty and considered cosmetically unattractive.
Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra
Is a common popular disorder which develops in adolescence on black skin and is identified by smooth, dome shaped, brown to black papules seen mainly on the cheeks, neck and upper chest.
Mole Removal Worthing
Hairs from moles can be treated by those trained in advance electrolysis. Once treatment has started the mole may reduce in size and colour. Hairs in moles are generally deep terminal hairs with a very rich blood supply. Repeat treatments, as with electrical epilation are required. Moles respond extremely well to electrolysis and treatment is very effective visibly reducing the size and often lightening the colour of the mole.
Xanthelasma is a yellowish deposit of fat underneath the skin, usually on the eyelids and/or around them. Xanthelasmas are collections of certain types of fat, mostly cholesterol and triglycerides derived from food.
Your questions answered
How long does each treatment take?
The length of the treatment really depends on what you are having treated. Your skins sensitivity will be taken into account and treatments may be spaced out as part of your treatment plan.
Will my blemishes return?
The treated blemish will not return but a new blemish is possible. Your electrolysis therapist will advise you in your consultation.
How are thread veins treated?
The tip of a tiny probe is used to introduce a high frequency energy to the blood supply of the vein, causing it to ‘dry’ up and destroy the vessel. You can see results instantly but further treatments may be needed depending on the severity of the problem.
How are skin tags treated?
There are different ways to remove skin tags depending on the size and the location. Results are instant and permanent for that tag, although others may grow in time.
