Leg Vein Removal

Leg Vein Removal

Thread veins are quite common on the legs. They are not a medical concern, but can spoil the appearance.

Blue/purple and red veins on legs can be successfully treated with Lynton Laser long pulsed Nd:Yag, tracking of the veins until they blanch.

If you suffer with Broken Capillaries, Spider Naevus or Campbell de Morgan spots (blood spots), on other areas of the body, these can be successfully treated with advanced electrolysis.

How does the treatment work?

The laser light passes safely through the skin and coagulates the blood in the targeted blood vessel. This causes the vein to break down and be reabsorbed into the surrounding cells.

The Nd:Yag laser emits light at 1064nm, which is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.

Am I suitable for the treatment?

Best results are seen with people who have fine veins of approximately 3mm and un-tanned skin. Blue/purple and red leg veins are the only lesions treated with our laser treatment.

If you suffer with Broken Capillaries, Spider Naevus or Campbell de Morgan spots (blood spots) these can be successfully treated with advanced electrolysis.

How does the treatment feel?

Treatment sensation varies but is often described as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. The skin is pre cooled to help numb the area, reducing discomfort.

What will I expect after the treatment?

The skin may be red and swollen immediately after treatment ‘cat scratch appearance’ but this usually subsides within a few hours. Some veins and the surrounding area will darken in colour initially but this resolves as the areas heals.

Adverse reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally 1-3 treatments, 6-8 weeks apart, are necessary for optimal results. Final results may take 2 months or more after your last treatment.
